To ensure producers have access to the best information and latest research on sustainable meat production, Washington State University Extension and Department of Animal Sciences are offering day-long courses in sustainable beef, pork, poultry, lamb and goat production.

Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Castle Rock High School for:
    Beef 100 (8:15am  5:30pm),
    Lamb/Goat 100 (8:15am  5:30pm), or
    Poultry 100 (8:15am  5:30pm) and again on

Friday, July 11, 2014 at Kitsap County Fairgrounds for:
    Pork 100 (8:15am  5:30pm) or a reprise of
    Poultry 100 (8:15am  5:30pm).

Designed to increase the knowledge and skills of those expanding into livestock production, the 100 series short courses are also excellent refreshers for experienced producers looking to increase the sustainability of current operations.

Each course helps farmers and ranchers increase their knowledge on the safe production of high quality food animals in an environmentally sound and humane manner. Topics address opportunities and issues that enhance the production, safety, and quality of beef, lamb, pork, and poultry from farm to table.

Presenters include WSU Extension meat and livestock specialists with extensive knowledge in all aspects of livestock production. From genetic selection, reproduction, and life cycle nutrition to  pasture management, marketing, and animal evaluation, attendees will learn what it takes to produce and maintain high quality livestock.

Registration is $65 for one person/one species. For two or more people attending one or more species, registration is $50/person/species. Paid registration must be received by July 3, after that late registration increases to $75 per person per species.

Registration fee includes lunch, materials, and a flash drive full of livestock resources to take home.
